Eros: A Sensual Console Inspired by the Human Body

Eros, a console from the mind of designer Gerardo Rios A., is a piece of furniture that exudes sensuality, warmth, and elegance. Inspired by the organic and dynamic details found in nature, this console is a unique blend of futurism and wilderness, designed to evoke erotic feelings and the harmony and beauty provided by organic forms.

The designer's fascination with organic shapes and the human body led to the creation of the Eros collection. Each piece in this collection is thoughtfully designed to emulate the sensual forms of the human body, creating a warm and daring sensation. Handcrafted from Tzalam Wood and combined with colored laminated glass, each console is a unique work of art, signed by both the artisan and the designer.

The manufacturing process of the Eros console involves meticulous hand carving of the organic elements, particularly the legs. These elements give the console its warm and elegant character, and could not have been achieved without the skilled craftsmanship of both the designer and the artisan. The wood used, Tzalam, is a hard tropical wood sourced from sustainable forests in Central America. The top of the console is made with laminated colored glass, adding a touch of modernity to the design.

Measuring at 1870mm W x 430mm D x 845mm H, the Eros console is designed to be a statement piece in any space. Originally intended for residential use, the designer encourages users to explore different environments for this versatile piece of art. Whether in a luxury office or a high-end store, the console offers a different perspective from every angle.

The Eros console was developed over several months, starting in September 2013 and completed in April 2014, in Merida, Mexico. The design process involved extensive research into human anatomy, particularly the female body, to create organic lines that emulate the curves and sensuality of the human form. Dozens of hand drawings were made, followed by CAD drawings and full-scale prototypes, to ensure the exact design envisioned by the designer was achieved.

The Eros console faced several challenges during its creation. The main challenge was to bring the designer's vision to life and capture the exact forms and lines that were in the designer's mind. Through collaboration between the designer and the artisan, seven full-scale prototypes were created before the final piece was produced. Structural challenges were also overcome to ensure the console could withstand weight and normal use.

The Eros console is part of the larger "Eros" collection, which uses the human body and organic forms as inspiration to create furniture that evokes erotic feelings, harmony, and beauty. This unique piece of furniture has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in 2015. This prestigious award is bestowed upon designs that exhibit strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
